What can Occupational Therapy do for me?

Occupational therapy helps you live your best life at home, at work – and everywhere else. It’s about being able to do the things you want and have to do. That could mean helping you overcome challenges learning at school, going to work, playing sport or simply doing the dishes. Everything is focused on increasing independence and wellbeing." Can OT help my circumstances?

Life for Living Ltd OT services are offered to adults (18+) and older adults. We focus on the person, not the disability. If you're wondering what conditions we specialise in, these include (but are not limited to):

  • neurological (e.g. stroke, traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, spinal cord injuries, ),
  • progressive neurological (e.g. brain injury, dementia, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy),
  • hypermobility spectrum disorders,
  • postural asymmetry and positioning needs (sitting, lying, standing), and
  • age-related cognitive and physical changes.

The focus of input is solution-based, considering rehabilitation needs, environmental and equipment needs to help you do the things you want, and need, to do.

What can you expect?

OT interventions will start with an assessment in a location of your choosing or virtually within your chosen location. Treatment sessions and goals are set together and each session will have a plan and a focus. It is important that you remain empowered and can make your own decisions and collaborate for successful outcomes of therapy input. OT works with existing caregivers and we can provide guidelines to improve ways of doing to maximise success and independence.
